Why We Built Thuméa: A Letter from Glenda

Hi, I’m Glenda — founder of Thuméa.
I’m 5’11”, Cuban, a mother, a dreamer, and for most of my life… an outsider in the fitting room.

This brand was born in the mirror.
Not the glamorous kind — the kind where you’re tugging at sleeves, folding up waistbands, pretending cropped pants are “intentional.” I was tired of shrinking myself to fit clothes that weren’t made for me. And I knew I wasn’t alone.

Growing Up Tall Meant Making Do

Like a lot of tall girls, I learned early to “make it work.”
Men’s jeans. Sizing up. Rolling sleeves. Stretching shirts until they lost shape. I loved fashion, but it didn’t always love me back. Every outfit felt like a compromise — not just in style, but in identity.

In Cuba, resources were scarce, and creativity was survival. I learned to alter, to thrift, to reimagine. But what I couldn’t change was this: the fashion industry had never considered women like me — tall, feminine, bold — as worthy of being designed for.

That quiet exclusion stuck with me.

Thuméa Is My Answer to That Silence

When I moved to the U.S., I promised myself I’d stop settling.
But even here, options were limited — or worse, uninspired. I didn’t want basics that “kinda fit.” I wanted beauty. Structure. Romance. Strength. I wanted to feel seen — in proportion, in power, in poetry.

So I built it.

Thumēa is for the tall women who’ve been edited out of fashion.
The ones who walk into rooms with presence and still feel invisible.
The ones who refuse to choose between elegance and edge.
The ones who are done apologizing for taking up space.

This Isn’t Just About Clothes

It’s about story.
It’s about reclaiming the narrative — from “hard to fit” to “made to lead.”
It’s about making height a canvas, not a constraint.

We use myth, movement, and meaning to shape everything — from our silhouettes to our storytelling. Because tall women deserve more than extra fabric. They deserve design that understands their body isn’t too much — it’s the blueprint.

Thank You for Being Here

If you’ve ever felt too tall, too loud, too much — this brand is for you.
Not to fix you.
To dress the woman you already are — fully, fiercely, and finally in your proportions.

With love and fire,
Glenda
